Quick delivery, good paint

Ordered the Metallic Paint and a Tumbler Turner. Got here in 3 days. Paint worked well on my project. Turner is sturdy. Happy with the purchase.

Good product, minor shipping gripe

I purchased the Extreme Protection Polyurethane and a few foam applicators. The polyurethane itself is fantastic; it went on smoothly and cured to a very durable finish on my kitchen table. I was quite satisfied with the product quality. My only small complaint was the shipping speed; it took 7 days to reach me in California, which felt a bit slow compared to other online stores. Customer service was helpful when I inquired about the tracking, though. Overall, a positive experience and good value, just wish delivery was a tad faster.

Reliable finishes, as always

I've ordered the Brite Tone Instrument Finish from CrystaLac several times now. This last batch was just as good as the ones before. I used it on a couple of mahogany ukulele bodies, and the clarity and hardness are consistently excellent. Shipping was pretty quick, got to me in about four days this time. It's why I keep coming back, can always count on their products for my instrument builds.

Worth it with the discount

I was looking for some good paint for a furniture restoration project and found CrystaLac. I picked up a few jars of their Chalky Paint in different colors. I signed up for their newsletter and got 10% off my first order, which made the price really good for the quality. The paint covered really well and saved me from having to buy a more expensive brand. Definitely felt like I got good value for my money, especially with the discount.

My tumblers look amazing!

I just finished a batch of tumblers using the Super Premium Water Based Clear Top Coat and the Flip Flop Multi-Chroma Paint – oh my goodness, they look incredible! The paint shimmered exactly like I wanted, and that top coat gave them such a professional, smooth finish. It dried perfectly, no weird streaks or anything. I already told my crafting group about it. Will definitely be ordering more for my next projects, this stuff is great!

Anyone know if you can use their water-based stuff over an oil-based stain? Got an old piece of furniture I'm trying to refinish but it's already got an oil stain on it.

T Troy Vargas 1 month ago
I wouldn't risk it without a good primer in between. Oil and water usually don't mix well.

Nah, generally not recommended. You'd probably get adhesion issues. Best to strip it or use a shellac-based sealer first to create a barrier.

Is this stuff actually non-toxic? Want to use it for some kid's toys and need to make sure it's safe for little ones.

D Derek 1 month ago
It's water-based and 'environmentally safe' so it's a lot better than other stuff out there. That's why I use it.

Yeah, they market it as non-toxic and low VOC. I'd still let it cure fully for kid's stuff, but it's generally considered very safe for indoor use.

Hey guys, thinking of getting the Brite Tone for a guitar I'm building. How long does it actually take to cure before I can handle it and buff it out?

D Derek 2 months ago
From my experience, you're looking at a pretty long cure time. Like, weeks. Don't rush it.

A Anna 2 months ago
Yeah, it's not a quick process if you want it to be super hard. I usually give it at least 30 days before doing any heavy buffing, maybe more if it's humid.

Does CrystaLac ship to Canada? I'm in Toronto and wanna grab some of their wood stains but not sure if they deliver across the border.

M Marcus 2 months ago
Yep, they do! I've ordered a few times to BC with no issues.

They totally ship to Canada, just be ready for potential customs fees when it gets there. Usually not too bad though.

Do they have a first order discount? Thinking of trying out some of their chalky paint.

P Priya 2 months ago
Yeah, usually if you sign up for their newsletter, they'll send you a code for 10-15% off your first purchase.

Check the bottom of their website or a pop-up, I definitely got a first-time buyer discount when I ordered a while back after giving them my email.

Thinking of picking up one of the tumbler starter kits during a sale. Do they ever let you stack coupon codes or is it usually just one per order?

D Dana 1 month ago
Pretty sure it's just one coupon code per order. That's been my experience.
2
B Brett Vargas 1 month ago
They usually have automatic discounts on kits already, so you might not even need a code for those. But for separate items, yeah, only one code usually works.

How does CrystaLac compare to something like General Finishes? Especially for durability on furniture.

D Dana S. 1 month ago
I actually prefer CrystaLac for durability. General Finishes is good, but I find the Crystalac topcoats hold up better over time.

B Brett 1 month ago
It's a pretty close call honestly. Both are solid. I think Crystalac has a slightly harder finish when fully cured, but GF is maybe a bit easier to apply for beginners.
